The freight company will contact you in order to schedule a delivery date and time. Typically, there will be a four-hour timeframe for the delivery and someone must be home for the item to be delivered. If you are not present at the scheduled delivery appointment you may be subject to a "Re-delivery Fee," which must be paid before the second delivery is made.

Shipping Insurance : Shipping Insurance is purchased by The Butcher Block Top for every order that leaves The Butcher Block Top. You will be covered for any damages that occur in transit only and only if the proper procedures are performed. You must inspect your shipment in the presence of the delivery driver PRIOR TO ACCEPTING. We will also handle all freight claims and pick up the damaged item and either repair or replace it.

YOU MUST INSPECT YOUR SHIPMENT THOROUGHLY FOR DAMAGE PRIOR TO SIGNING FOR THE DELIVERY.

When you sign for delivery you are stating that you received your item without any damage. It is normal for packaging to show some wear, however, you must carefully inspect the item for any potential damage that may have occurred during shipment. If there is any noticeable damage to the package (i.e. forklift holes in the box or pieces falling out of the box), You should refuse delivery and contact us immediately so we can assist you in your claim. If you have a digital camera available, you may use it to capture an image of the damaged shipment as well which will prove useful when dealing with the shipping agent. A claim must be filed immediately.

If you fail to inspect your shipment in the presence of the driver and prior to signing for delivery, if you do you then forfeit your right to a claim and or a return. The Butcher Block Top can no longer help you at this point. You will have sealed your own fate. We will not be held accountable for failure to inspect your purchase prior to delivery. You are expected to open your crate and inspect your purchase BEFORE signing off on the delivery. Again The Butcher Block Top cannot be held liable for any damage to your countertop at this point and a return will not be processed!

Cancellations

Once you place your order, we begin processing it immediately. For that reason, it is generally not possible to cancel an order once it has been placed. However, if you email us with a cancellation request within 24 hours of your order we will do our best to honor the request.

As all of our products are handmade and all of our materials are purchased at time of order and immediately milled to spec, we are not able to accept returns for any reasons other than manufacturer defect or shipping damage.

Return Policy

These can be easily removed by lightly sanding out.see FAQ for more info on dings, dents and scratches.

Remember folks you are purchasing Hardwood that has to be cut down and built just for you. We cannot simply re-plant your countertop in the dirt and call it a day. You must understand what you are buying before you buy it. If you are unsure what your countertops will look like than order a Free sample before you make your purchase. That is what samples are for.

Damaged Items Although it is extremely rare, sometimes items do arrive damaged. If your item is being delivered by freight carrier, please note: YOU MUST immediately INSPECT the package and its contents for potential damage AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY. While it is normal for packaging to show some wear, if it appears that damage to the item has occurred, write PRODUCT DAMAGED on the sheet that the freight company asks you to sign, do not accept the delivery. Once you contact us, we will work together with the freight company to determine whether the item is damaged and identify the source of the damage. If it is clear that the item is in fact damaged, we will make arrangements to have the original item returned for repair or replacement. If it is determined that the item is not in fact damaged, the item will be re-delivered to the buyer at their expense.

When accepting a freight shipment, it is very important that you note any damage at the time of delivery in order to facilitate the damage claim process. When damage is noted only after the item has been accepted for delivery free and clear, you have then forfeited your right to a claim.

If, after accepting delivery, you discover concealed damage that was not apparent at the time the item was delivered, please contact us immediately so we can try and assist you.

Please also be sure to keep all the original boxes and packaging until your damage claim is resolved. In cases where only part of your item is damaged, we may be able to send out a replacement part, although for some items that may not be possible. In cases where sending out replacement parts is not an option, we will help you file a concealed damage claim with the freight company, for full or partial compensation. All damage claims are time sensitive and must be reported no later than 2 days after the item is received. We regret that we cannot accommodate damage claims that come in more than 2 days after delivery.

Refused/Undeliverable Shipments

If you refuse a shipment due to damage, please contact us immediately to report the damage and the refusal. We will investigate if the item is damaged, investigate the reason for the damage, and submit a claim to our warehouse to have a replacement sent to you. Please do not refuse shipments for any reason other than visible damage. Please note, in the event that you refuse a shipment for any reason other than damage, you will be responsible for the original and return shipping cost, as well as wood cost for the item you have purchased. If you refuse a freight shipment due to damage, and if it is then determined that the item is not in fact damaged, we will have the item re-delivered to you at your expense. If your item is undeliverable due to an incorrect delivery address, or if, in the case of freight shipment, the carrier cannot get in touch with you to schedule delivery, the item will be returned to the warehouse and remain there until you are contacted for re-delivery at your expense. In the case of freight delivery, if you are not available to accept delivery when your item arrives at the local freight terminal, but would like the item held at the terminal until you can accept delivery, please contact us to let us know so we can assist you in arranging a later delivery date with the freight company. Please note that in the event that the freight company needs to hold your item for more than one week after the item has arrived at the local freight terminal, you will be responsible for holding fees.

Its simple, if you are not sure whether butcher block countertops are right for you, then simply request a free sample. If you are still unsure whether butcher block countertops are right for you, then we request that you do not make your purchase at this time and you wait until you are absolutely sure that you are ready to own and maintain a hardwood butcher block countertop.

What we can do is repair a damaged countertop if found during delivery inspection as the shipping agent will be responsible for payment. A repair or replacement will be awarded depending on the damage.

As we are a small mom and pop shop and cannot afford to pay or reimburse customers simply because they change their mind or the butcher block is not what they thought it was or the color is darker, etc.

Hardwood countertops are extremely expensive to build and even more expensive to ship with little profit involved. A return process of 1 or 2 countertops at a time is extremely costly in time let alone money and can nearly shut down a small independent business like The Butcher Block Top. So please ensure that butcher block is what you want before you make your purchase.

By purchasing a butcher block countertop from The Butcher Block Top; you agree and or consent to abide by our strict return policy as stated above and will not hold The Butcher Block Top accountable for any financial claims.

If you have any questions regarding our policies please ask before your buy! We will be happy to help you.
